FOOD | Clark & Ravenscroft

Apparently my friend Bridie features in all my food posts. When we get together we love to eat. One of my favourite things about living in Norwich is how easy it is to support local businesses and eat somewhere new. Clark & Ravenscroft was recommended to me by a friend so, when it was pouring with rain this weekend and Bridie and I were craving lunch, we decided to give it a go. It's tucked away in the Norwich Lanes, with a cosy seating area in the back. We immediately loved it.

Both of us got the soup. Soup is my favourite winter food. I could eat it every day. I even bought a slow cooker recently so I can make my own soup. I love it. Luckily Bridie feels the same. The sweet potato and lentil soup had the option of a toasted cheese sandwich on the side (with a choice of 3 types of cheese) and was the perfect hearty lunch on a cold autumn day. My drink was also amazing - it tasted like sweets. Definitely a spot I would recommend and I will be heading back myself as soon as possible.

INSTAGRAM | #9

pulled pork sandwiches; finally found my graduation dress; goodbye meal with the housemates
new summer sandals; a quick break in Cornwall; early evening beach strolls
eggs for breakfast every day; sunny days in the plantation gardens; picnic treats

The last few weeks have been really lovely. While it's been sad to know that uni really is coming to an end and everyone is going their separate ways, I've had so many days out with friends. Eating good food, dancing until the early hours, even a little trip to Newquay (that was cut short by a job interview). It's been a great way to spend the last couple of weeks of my undergraduate years. Now I'm off to see some family in the States and popping to Berlin for a quick city break with my friend Bridie, then I'm graduating. Part of me is tempted to blog about graduate life a bit. Perhaps on here or on another blog. But I think it will certainly be an interesting ride.

Follow me on Twitter and Instagram for more of what I get up to during the summer.

TRAVEL | A Few Days at Home

As promised, I took a bunch of pictures while I was home last week so I could make a lifestyle post and show you all what I got up to. I haven't done that in ages, it felt nice to capture everything that was happening. I used to take my camera everywhere with me and recently I've been out of the habit. The camera on my iPhone doesn't work anymore (counting down the months until I can upgrade and replace it...) so I don't take many snaps of everyday life anymore. Definitely something I should try and make more of an effort to do.

cashed in my Tesco points for a cheeky evening at Pizza Express
trying this out on my sister's hair
tea and cake in the M&S café is a must on days out with mum
a trip to the coast for a walk and some chips
spent my last evening at home enjoying a beer by the sea

FOOD | The Waffle House

I used to do a bunch more lifestyle kind of posts on the blog but it's rare that my days consist of much other than going to work, going to uni, and savouring the last few weeks of my undergrad years with friends before we all graduate. And no one needs pictures of that. I do, however, love to go out to eat and I had the chance to take my friend Bridie to one of my favourite little restaurants in Norwich the other day: The Waffle House. Their selection of both sweet and savoury waffles is out of this world so I figured it was the perfect time to get in an old fashioned lifestyle post while I was at it.

I know what you're thinking. Savoury waffles? Surely not. At first, I too was skeptical. If not a bit repulsed. But it's so good. If you ever, for whatever reason, find yourself in Norwich, definitely give The Waffle House a shot. Even just for the novelty factor. It's not every day you have bolognaise served on a waffle for lunch.

FOOD | London Eats

chicken and waffles with maple syrup and fish finger sandwiches at All Star Lanes, Brick Lane

street festivities and jerk chicken at Notting Hill Carnival

huevos rancheros, the half monty, and pancakes with berries at The Breakfast Club, Angel

I was in London this weekend to see some friends and go to the Notting Hill Carnival. I figured I'd take some pictures while I was there to make a kind of 'Weekend in London' blog post. In typical 'me' fashion, when I got home and uploaded my pictures, they were pretty much all of food. What can I say? I love to eat. Basically my favourite part of going anywhere is trying out new grub. Plus I'm never particularly comfortable sharing pictures of me and friends on my blog. Call me old fashioned, but this is a blog about what I wear and, sometimes, where I go and what I eat there. Not particularly personal. I've never been big on 'sharing' so I don't fancy displaying photos of my nearest and dearest to a wider audience. I'm sure the food pictures are much more interesting to most people anyway.

DAYS OUT | Highline & Shake Shack

The High Line

pink limeade ice pops from La Newyorkina

the shackburger and cheese fries

For someone who has family that live an hour from NYC, I don't make it to the city much. Other things always seem to come up and trips to New York get put on the back burner. This time around I was adamant we'd make it though. I'm a bossy so-and-so, so naturally I got my way in the end. A damn good time was had by all too, if I do say so myself. We tried out a whole bunch of Must Do NYC things, that I'd never done yet, like the High Line, Shake Shack, and Eataly. All were excellent. I would highly recommend. Particularly Shake Shack, because who doesn't love cheese fries?

TRAVEL | Latitude 2013

These pictures in no way accurately represent the incredible time I had at Latitude this year, but they've all I've got. I was volunteering for the second year in a row. Last year I got all fancy and brought a disposable camera so I had all these cool hipster-y pictures but I forgot to take many pictures at all this year. Oops. It was a cracking time though, take my word for it. I ate some damn good food, hung out with the best people, and the entertainment was stellar. 10/10, would do it all over again.

Some highlights include: seeing Karen O killing it on stage for Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Eddie fucking Izzard, dancing in the woods until the wee hours, pulling some major shapes at Disclosure, and this one wrap I ate that was so good I cannot even describe and will regret until my dying day that I didn't take a picture of because it was so beautiful. It's safe to say I now have a serious case of post-festival blues. Take me back.

DAYS OUT | A Rare Sunny Day

I'm feeling pretty sad about leaving this city to move home for the summer but that's not what this blog post is about. The past 2 weeks of post-exam life have been pretty great and reminded me why I love living here all the more. Yesterday I had the nicest day. It was sunny. One of my best friends was visiting. We went to one of my favourite cafés. It was pretty great. (By the by, if you're ever in Norwich, I cannot recommend No 33 Café enough.)

jacket: H&M; t-shirt, skirt: Topshop; bag: Zara; shoes: Converse; watch: Casio

My outfit was pretty comfy and basic. Mostly because I've sent the majority of my clothes home already in preparation for when I move out of my current house in a couple of weeks. I threw in a candid mid-laugh photo because whenever I show people my blog, the first thing they say is how grumpy I look in my pictures. Look everyone, I do smile sometimes. I swear! Seriously though, do you know how weird it feels to be taking pictures of yourself alone in your room when you're fake-smiling like an idiot? The grumpy face at least makes me feel less like a creep so soz guys, it's here to stay.

DAYS OUT | Dinner at Wahaca

On Tuesday I was in London for the day with a friend. We'd gone to see the Shakespeare: Staging the World exhibition at the British Museum (which was fantastic, and I'd make an effort to recommend it to you all but it's closing on November 25th so that would be a bit pointless) but, of course, when in London you have to eat all the food. Which we did.

The place I was most excited to go to was Wahaca. I'd first heard about it on Tania Tell's blog a while ago and since then it seems to have gained a lot of buzz. I love Mexican food so I was desperate to try it out, despite hearing it was nigh on impossible to get a table without queueing for ages. Apparently half five on a Monday night is the time to go though because we waltzed right in and were seated straight away. Amazing. Now, I'm not claiming to be some kind of food blogger, by any means, but I do really bloody love to eat so I couldn't not share how great this place was with you guys.

We decided to try out the whole 'Mexican tapas' concept and ordered a few dishes, as well as a cheeky drink each. You're allowed to drink tequila after 5pm, right? I got a Hibiscus Margarita (delish, by the by) and my friend ordered a Paloma, which was something with lime juice in. It seemed pretty good. The food came super quick. As in, we ordered and less than 5 minutes later, the first plate was brought out. I can't remember exactly what we ordered and I tucked in too quickly to take pictures of most dishes (see, told you I'm no food blogger) but it was all really, really delicious. I remember that much. It's incredibly messy though, especially the tostadas. I think I got more sour cream on my skirt than anywhere else..

We polished off every last bit and I'm already dying to go back. Just looking at these pictures is making me salivate a little bit. It was definitely the best Mexican food I've ever eaten in the UK. Top notch stuff, would eat again, and hopefully 'again' is soon.
