FOOD | The Waffle House

I used to do a bunch more lifestyle kind of posts on the blog but it's rare that my days consist of much other than going to work, going to uni, and savouring the last few weeks of my undergrad years with friends before we all graduate. And no one needs pictures of that. I do, however, love to go out to eat and I had the chance to take my friend Bridie to one of my favourite little restaurants in Norwich the other day: The Waffle House. Their selection of both sweet and savoury waffles is out of this world so I figured it was the perfect time to get in an old fashioned lifestyle post while I was at it.

I know what you're thinking. Savoury waffles? Surely not. At first, I too was skeptical. If not a bit repulsed. But it's so good. If you ever, for whatever reason, find yourself in Norwich, definitely give The Waffle House a shot. Even just for the novelty factor. It's not every day you have bolognaise served on a waffle for lunch.

OUTFIT | #202

jumper: H&M; shorts, boots: Topshop

I'm really terrible at being ill. I'm a workaholic by nature and am terrible at letting myself relax. When illness strikes, I do this thing where I drag myself out of bed, pump myself full of cold meds, and make sure I'm dressed super well so I can at least look better than I feel. I've had a particularly irritating cold lately that just won't go away so I put on my brightest jumper and took my sorry self to the library where I could sniffle among the snacks.

My hair cut is helping too. The long bob had grown out and become rather straggly so I feel a bit revived by having had an inch or two cut off. It's so bizarre to look back at pictures of myself with incredibly long hair now. I didn't realise just how long my hair was until I looked at some old snaps. RIP mermaid hair. You served me well but I think the long bob is here to stay for a while.

OUTFIT | #201

jumper, shorts: H&M; belt: Topshop; shoes: Converse; watch: Casio

After a brief blogging hiatus, during which time I dealt with some real life shit I had going on and also finally got a hair cut, I'm back. I'm also slightly rusty, which resulted in lots of dodgy pictures including ones where I cut off my feet. It feels good to be back though. I've worn so many on point outfits in March that I never got to take pictures of, which is kind of a bummer but y'know, sometimes life takes priority and this blog is only a little hobby.

It's been warmer here lately and I've been all about the shorts. I've bought a few new pairs, including this H&M pair. I've desperately wanted a pair of black high-waisted shorts for the past few years but never found any that perfectly fit the bill. Then I found these for £15 one day on a shopping trip and it was love at first sight. They're super comfy, I would highly recommend them.

OUTFIT | #200

blouse: H&M; skirt: American Apparel; boots: Topshop; watch: Casio

Another day, another creased shirt. I actually considered ironing this one before realising I was running late and I didn't care anyway. It adds to the 'overworked academic' look I've been leaning toward of late. The final weeks of uni are closing in on me and I have to-do lists coming out of my ears and not enough hours in the day to complete all of them. Currently ignoring all emails about graduation and frantically trying to think of back-up plans for my back-up plan, just in case.

One thing I have been enjoying lately is the warmer weather. It feels positively spring-like. I'm a fan. I've ditched the winter coat, hopefully for good, and am reaching for lighter jackets and brighter lipsticks. Corals and oranges are working their way back into my regular lipstick rotation. Not that I've fully ditched the dark vampy shades. Let's not get too hasty.
