OUTFIT | #108

top: Zara; skirt: H&M; socks: Topshop; boots: River Island; lipstick: Revlon Matte "Really Red'

If I like something, I tend to take it and run with it. You know this by now. Theme weeks are common in my sartorial decisions. Remember crop top week? (Which was sadly ended before its time due to deadlines and general stress but will likely be revisited, because I still bloody love crop tops) I think this week's theme may be over-the-knee socks. At least until I run out of clean pairs. I'm a big fan, if you couldn't tell. They do add a slight schoolgirl look to everything but whatever, I can work with it.

Speaking of things that are great, add this skirt to that list. I've had it a while now but I really like the shape and the detail at the waist. I've realised that basically all I wear these days are skirts. I don't know when that happened, since I never used to be a skirt person. Things change, I guess. I want to add a few more colourful skirts to my collection, I think. How many black skirts can one person own? I mean, really.

OUTFIT | #107

cardigan, blouse: H&M; skirt: Topshop; socks: Primark; boots: River Island; lipstick: Revlon 'Red Velvet' lip butter

It was moderately warm today. We're talking over 5 degrees here people. Later in the week is promising a high of 12, get excited. In honour of there being no more snow and bitter cold, I brought out the over-the-knee socks. I had been hoping to give these a bit more love this winter but the weather was against me. I wear them with tights that match my skin-tone for a bit of added warmth, plus some friction so the buggers don't fall down all day. Constantly pulling your socks up is such a pain.

Still desperately in need of a hair cut. You can barely see my face here and I can't get an appointment for another 2 weeks so get used to the faceless wonder look. I also need my roots done but thankfully you can't see those. Yet. My hair grows so fast, it won't be long. I should really learn to do my own hair, surely that's a life skill you should have by 20? I still rely on trips home where I coax my younger sister into doing it for me.

OUTFIT | #106

top: Motel; skirt, necklace: H&M; boots: River Island; lipstick: MAC 'Rebel'

It's been a while since I posted what I wore on a night out. Most of the time I get ready in a hurry and run out the door but last night I got ready with loads of time to spare. I've been waiting to wear this Motel top for ages but an appropriate moment never seemed to arise. When I first got it, I wasn't 100% sure I liked the off-the-shoulder style but I'm glad I kept it. Loads of people complimented it when I was out so it turned out to be a winner.

Sadly, I did have to change my shoes to something more practical when I left the house. I gave it a shot but walking in the ice in my River Island boots would have resulted in me injuring myself. Not good. Thankfully the snow's gone now and I can start wearing the rest of my shoes again. It felt a bit odd being out at a club in flats. Usually I'm always in heels, even if no one else is. Being perpetually over-dressed is the story of my life.

OUTFIT | #105

cardigan, skirt: H&M; blouse: American Eagle; necklace: ASOS; boots: Doc Martens; lipstick: Revlon Matte 'Wine Not'

All my seminars were cancelled today because the snow's still sticking around. I have plans to see a friend in the evening and I'm still doing that thing where I wake up at 7am all the time so I got dressed anyway. I think somewhere since becoming a second year, I've forgotten how to relax. Having the whole day to myself used to be something I looked forward to but now I just get cabin fever and end up cleaning just to occupy myself. What have I become?

The snow has brought one good thing to my life though. My Doc Martens are finally worn in to the point where I can wear them all day without ending up bleeding into my socks. Small victories, people. I've owned these damn shoes since I was 17 and never been able to wear them for sustained periods of time. It only took 3 years, but now I can finally wear all those outfits I planned around them. I'm still sick of the snow and wish it would bugger off, but at least I can wear my DMs. All this griping wasn't totally in vain.

OUTFIT | #104

cardigan: H&M; blouse: Forever 21; jeans: Topshop; boots: Doc Martens; lipstick: Revlon Matte 'Really Red'

Taking pictures on this side of my room is such a pain in the arse. I cut my head off in most of the shots I took. It was a rare day where I had enough sunlight to take daytime pictures though so I couldn't miss the opportunity. Plus my lamp is broken so I've been sitting by the light of my laptop screen for the past few nights. What a glamorous life I lead. No taking outfit pictures in the evening for me for a while, sadly.

I've been dressed in some variation of this outfit all week. Remember when I was rambling on how much I wanted to wear my Alexys outdoors? The snow kind of scuppered those plans. It's been me and my DMs stomping around campus instead. They still pinch my feet but I just wear two or three pairs of socks and that seems to do the trick.

On a side note, I really need to say a big thank you to Hayley of Strangeness & Charm for featuring me on her blog this week! It's barely two weeks into the semester and I'm already super stressed so to wake up and read all the lovely things she'd said about me made my day. And thank you to everyone who followed my blog as a result. I'm incredibly flattered!

OUTFIT | #103

sweater: H&M; shorts, Alexy boots, necklace: Topshop; lipstick: MAC 'Rebel'

Man, you don't take outfit pictures for a while and you forget all your good angles. Taking these took more time than I'd care to admit. Note to self: don't slack off on blogging in future, you'll regret it. I'm wearing colour though, everyone. Navy, in fact. Which isn't super bright but y'know, it's the small things. I've actually been feeling a little uninspired and blah about everything I've worn lately, so I think  I need to start ~mixing it up. I went for lunch with my mum and sister and needed something that was comfortable enough for the mass amounts of pizza I was going to consume but also warm. It's been threatening to snow all week here. Please don't snow, I didn't bring my wellies to uni this year.

I also have a confession. I haven't worn my Alexys out of the house yet. They're so beautiful. I don't want to ruin them. Which is ridiculous but my poor River Island boots look so worn out up close, I live in fear of my new babies going the same way. Next week's goal is to wear them somewhere though. Somewhere that isn't the walk between my room and the kitchen. I can do this.

OUTFIT | #102

blouse: Topshop; skirt, sweater: H&M; boots: River Island

I woke up at 7am and was dressed and on campus before 10 two days in a row this week. Like properly dressed, not a pull on some jeans and a clean hoody and head out the door kind of look. Real clothes. I'm not sure what's up with that. I know I wanted to be more productive this semester but getting up before the sun's out is a little odd. I'm not even sure where I'm going with this. I'm mostly just impressed because I haven't been up before 9am in a long time. I didn't even know I was capable of dressing myself and being a productive human being at that time of morning. The more you know.

Also, I really need a hair cut. Sometimes I think that part of the reason I wear so much black these days is that my hair is a bold enough statement in itself that I don't need anything. Accessorising? Nope, my hair speaks for itself. It's reached that uncontrollable fluffy stage recently. Looking at these pictures is making me want to book an emergency trim ASAP.

OUTFIT | #101

top, skirt: Topshop; cardigan: H&M; boots: Clarks; necklace: ASOS

Winter break is over and I'm back at uni. I kind of missed my little backdrop here. Plus the lighting in this room is miles better than my bedroom at my mum's house. It made taking any pictures indoors impossible. I'm looking forward to it being less gloomy all day so I can take some outfit shots in daylight again. Who remembers daylight? I know I struggle sometimes.

I thought I'd welcome in the new semester in a very typical 'me' outfit. Ankle boots? Red lip? Check, check. Plus a little leopard print/skater skirt combo and I'm good to go. Or just a creature of habit. You decide. I just love this cardigan with an all black outfit. It's what I've been pulling on every day I can't be bothered to think of anything exciting to wear. Definitely a good addition to my (ridiculous) leopard print collection. Although I did talk myself out of buying yet another leopard print dress today, so maybe there's hope for me yet.

TRAVEL | 2 Days in Paris

As I mentioned a few posts back, I went to Paris for a few days just after Christmas with my family. I'd never been before, although I've always wanted to. We had a lovely few days and I'm already itching to go back and see everything I missed. Or maybe just sit in a corner of the Shakespeare and Company book shop forever, that would suit me too. As promised, I thought I'd share some of my typical tourist-y pictures from the trip. We hit up all the obligatory hotspots: the Louvre, the Champs Elysées, the Eiffel Tower. You name it, I took a cheesy picture of my family in front of it.

INSTAGRAM | #2

amazing badges from Modern Girl Blitz; breaking out the Docs for rainy days; starting off winter break as I mean to go on

presents from my favourite ladies; feelin' Christmassy back at my mum's house; fell in love here while in Paris

shattered remains of my beloved Anastasia brow powder; wearing an incredible Missguided dress for NYE; ginger chicken udon forever

It's been a while since my last Instagram post. I tend to go through spates where I use it a lot, and then not so much for a while. I always end up using the same couple of filters anyway, oops. (Amaro is my love) These are some pictures from the last month (ish). I could be all nostalgic and go on about how these are representations of my last month of 2012 or something but I'd rather not. It'll get all sentimental and I'll talk about how great my year was and no one wants to see that.

You can also follow me on Twitter and Instagram to see more pictures of my life (but mostly I just post shots of food and the odd selfie, sahrry).
