OUTFIT | #82

jacket: Forever 21; shirt: Topshop; jumper: Zara; jeans: Next; boots: Clarks; lipstick: Revlon Lip Butter in 'Red Velvet'

This is one of those times where I know this outfit would look better if I could ever be bothered to iron my shirts. But that involves a lot of effort and so I didn't and I was dissatisfied with how it looked. Oh well. I also straightened my hair. It feels, and looks, weird to me. I wear it in its natural curly(/frizzy) state basically all the time now. Straight hair just feels flat and odd. Where is my volume? I'm not sure I like it, which is strange to say after religiously straightening it every day between the ages of 13 and 18.

This week's been a busy one. I worked a fair bit, went to seminars, saw my friends a lot, you get the gist. It was fun. It feels good to be back in the swing of university life. Today was a slower day though and I appreciated that. I like being kept busy but there comes a point when I run out of steam and just want to wear my pajamas and eat Doritos all day. So I went lipstick shopping and got cake (Mocha and hazelnut cake, to be exact. Delish) with a friend in town, then I came home and watched films and ate junk food. A perfect Sunday.

OUTFIT | #81

jumper: H&M; skirt: jane Norman; boots: Dune; necklace: Topshop; lipstick: Revlon 'Really Red'

Welcome to the other side of my room. Looking at this has made me realise I really need some posters on that wall behind me. This spot, it appears, is better for taking pictures in daylight. The first week back at university is coming to a close and I'm already in a flap about not having done enough reading. Nothing changes, I suppose.

I really need to nip back home and pick up all the warm jumpers I left there. It's getting really bloody cold. Layers are the current order of the day. Today I rolled out of bed sometime around 11 and got ready really slowly and lazily. After working 9-5 for over a month, it felt pretty darn good. I'd have preferred to wear some chelsea boots with this, but they need reheeling and I've been putting it off for ages now. I should definitely get that done before autumn really sets in and I'm back to wearing boots 24/7. This skirt is actually one of my favourite things I own yet I can't even remember the last time I wore it. It definitely hasn't been on the blog for a good few years.

OUTFIT | #80

playsuit: Primark; heels: Topshop

So, new location. I won't bore you with details but to make a long story short, I moved rooms. Bye bye box room, hello giant room. Seriously, I could do cartwheels in here (if I was capable of doing cartwheels without injuring myself). With moving in here (my stuff's still in bags and a total mess) and working a 7 day week at work, I've been worn a tad thin lately. Roll on the start of semester on Monday so I can go back to being a lazy student.

I wore this for a night out on campus for the first time since before the summer. It was odd being back and not being the fresher this time. Predrinking logistics are much more difficult when you don't live in halls too, it seems. I ended up drinking alone in my new room before heading out to meet my friends there. It was an odd experience.

This playsuit is among the few Primark items I own. Hopefully it survives better than my granddad slippers of blog posts past, may they rest in peace. I bought it sometime in the summer and never had the opportunity to wear it. The pointy collar is my favourite part. Quite a nice change from the peter pan collar I have so many variations of.

OUTFIT | #79

blouse (worn open): H&M; t-shirt: Urban Outfitters; shorts: Zara; shoes: Converse; watch: Swatch; necklace: Topshop

This outfit is more casual than I usually go. (I want to shorten 'casual' to 'caj' but 1) I feel like it makes me sound like a douchebag, oops and 2) How do you even spell that word, man?) I basically came home from work, threw it on, and headed back out the door. It was hot, I was tired, and I wanted to be comfortable goddamnit.

The shirt is one of those that makes everyone ask 'What does it say?' whenever I wear it. I even stopped wearing it for a while because I was sick of that question. It says 'Je suis allé au Collège Kitsuné', which roughly translate to 'I went to the Kitsuné school'. No, there is no Collège Kitsuné. I am lead to believe Kitsuné is a brand. I just bought it because it was in the Urban Outfitters sale forever ago and I liked it. C'est la vie.

OUTFIT | #78

jacket: Forever 21; dress: Topshop; flats: Primark; lipstick: Topshop 'All About Me'

My 20th birthday was exactly a week ago today (September 1st, mark your calendars) but I've had a hellish week since, hence the no blogging about it. There's no internet in my new place still, so that sucks, plus I spilt a litre bottle of water all over my camera. Smooth move, Rachel. It survived though, it's all good. Can't hold me down.

I spent my birthday weekend at a cottage in Kent with my family. It was all very nice and picturesque. Lots of walks by the sea at Whitstable and good grub in Canterbury. It's a little odd to be in my twenties now. How did that happen? I started this blog when I was 16 guys. It's weird. 19 was the best age ever so I have high expectations for 20.

I pulled out some of my favourite things to wear for my birthday. This Topshop dress in leopard print was a must, of course. Plus I love this (faux) leather jacket but don't get to wear it enough. Jacket weather in the UK is a short week sandwiched between the muggy summer and bitter cold winter. I wore those Primark slippers I'd been loving too. They fell apart after 2 weeks of everyday wear so I'm a little bitter about that. RIP cute velvet shoes. I'm looking for a replacement pair that are better quality now. That will have to wait until I get paid though. Boo.

OUTFIT | #77

blouse: Forever 21; skirt: H&M; flats: Primark; watch: Swatch

This outfit is basically a variation on something else I wore to work a work or so ago. Same skirt, same polka dot pattern on my blouse, not quite the same shoes. Just add tights, because the weather can't make up its bloody mind. I like this blouse a lot. It's got that whole sheer thing going on that I enjoy, so much so that I bought the black version too. I'm sure you'll see that soon enough.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I thought I'd share some finer, shall we say, details of this outfit that you don't see, mostly because of poor lighting. The skirt seemed to consume as much of my lunch today as I did and ended up covered in chocolate and satsuma. I'm such a graceful eater. Definitely one for the laundry basket. Then there are the Primark slipper shoes that I've become rather fond of. Yeah, about those. Love them as a concept and, initially, to look at. After a week of wear however, not so much. They're falling apart. Scuffed at the toes, sole coming away from the shoe, holes in the seams, the works. People call me a snob for not shopping in Primark but I don't care if it's cheap, if it doesn't last I'd rather pay a few quid more for something that does.

OUTFIT | #76

blazer: H&M; dress: Forever 21; watch: Swatch; flats: Primark

It looks suspiciously like I'm not wearing shoes in these pictures but I assure you, I am. Still a fan of those granddad slippers I picked up. They're just so bloody comfy. Totally impractical for the weather though on this particular day. It's another office outfit, you guessed it, and it poured all day. Velvet and torrential downpour don't mix so well so my poor shoes were looking a bit sad and damp at the end of the day.

My room is still slowly taking shape. I spent the better part of the evening after work rearranging things and assembling shelves. My backdrop may look different in nearly every post for a while yet while I work on settling in. It's better than the mess you don't see on the other side of the room though, trust me. I still can't find half my clothes and all of my jewellery has gone AWOL. Moving is hard, guys. I have way too much crap.
